The Princess and the Goblin by ldiehl The Princess and the Goblin by ldiehl
Cover for the audiobook version of "The Princess and the Goblin" by George MacDonald published by Kalliope Audiobooks. This piece was very much about capturing the dreamlike elements of the story, and certain symbols that glittered in my mind's eye as I read the text, and working them together visually.

I loved this story as a child and I think you did a fantastic job of carrying out the fantasy elements of the book through your art. Everything comes together and reminds me of my childhood images of the story.

I really love these covers. I was wondering are they a company of volunteers doing this or are the artists all paid?

This is just so pretty! I remember watching the movie, as well as reading the book. Here's my question though - where is my Curdie? =(

I have also read the sequel to the Princess ad the Goblin. It's called The Princess and Curdie.

Okay, where do I start? The sky is beyond gorgeous. I like the billowing clouds and rocky mountain looming in the background. I've never read the book, but I get this sinister feeling from the string that the Princess is using from [the evil queen?]'s spinning wheel. Everything is just marvelous! My favorite part: the flaming rose. It's so realistic and beautiful. You did a wonderful job!

This is so beautiful! The sky is definitely my favorite part of this :-) I wish there was a version of this with just the sky and the little castle as a wallpaper. I could stare this for a long time!
